Pick one of five consistency steps and a colour, and one line is kept. Several a day is fine. The photo step is there only if you want help.

It states no probability, makes no diagnosis, gives no risk score and names no disease. It sends no notifications. It records and counts, and that is all. If you are worried about your child, take this log to a paediatrician.

This is health information about a child, written down by a carer. Personal data about a child under fourteen may only be handled with a legal guardian's consent, and this app asks for no name, no birth date and no personal data at all, so that procedure never arises. Keeping a record on this device is still the guardian's call, which is why it is asked here on its own.

If you agree, a date, a step and a colour stay inside this browser. Nothing is sent to our server, and photos are not stored even while this is on. Turning it off deletes whatever was kept.

This switch should be turned on by the child's parent or legal guardian.

Do not turn this on for a shared computer. Whatever stays in the browser can be opened by the next person who uses it.

1. Pick the consistency

Choose whichever of the five steps of the modified Bristol scale for children is closest to what was in the nappy. You, the carer, are the one choosing.

In original Bristol numbering these are types 1, 2, 4, 6 and 7. Original types 3 and 5 were dropped from the children's version.

This scale was validated for carers scoring children aged one to three. Younger babies have a different ruler, which this app does not carry. Adults logging their own use a different scale, in the adult stool diary. Adult stool diary

2. Pick the colour

Tap the single closest colour. Moving between yellow, green and brown is common and follows what the child eats.

Please pick one step and one colour.

If you choose a nappy photo, brightness and outlines are counted inside your browser to suggest what it looks like. It is only a suggestion, so nothing goes into the log by itself.

This photo was read inside the browser only, and dropped afterwards.
